Prairie State Half Marathon New PR

So, after my meltdown at Missoula Marathon where I was going for 4:10 and ran 4:58, I laxed off of training. I am running Naperville Marathon November 10 and had no clue of my fitness level, so I raced this half to see. I also decided to run it without using the watch other than to get mile splits. I had the watch running to get data, but I set it on the time of day screen. Each mile it would buzz and show my split.

I figured that since I have really laxed off on training, that I would be lucky to run a half that might predict a 4:20 or so. Well, I surprised myself and took about 50 seconds off of my half PR from earlier this year. It predicts a 4:09 something (almost 4:10 I think) marathon, but I don't think I am really trained for that. I do think I will go for 4:15 now though and will again go with just the mile splits. I kind of liked running by feel. It was an interesting experiment for me.

Well done. That's a good PR and should certainly get you in the right frame of mind for the marathon.

Congrats on the PR!! Best of luck on the marathon next Month! I agree, I would go for the 4:15. If you feel great halfway through you can always speed up a bit.
