Heat of Life
Good gosh almighty dadgum. I am so tired of this. One more day. One more day. Well, I started at 7:54, slowly ramping up to a 15:25 and continuing to ramp to a 37:35 for 5 miles. The last two miles were at a 7:24, but I had to dig deep for that. I finished with a 7:48 pace for the next two miles to finish at 53:09 for 7 miles. I am so tired of this. I have 21 miles this week.
Re: Clawing My Way Back
Geez, Michael. That's just nuts. What did Texas do to deserve such punishment from Mother Nature?
We've got frost on the roofs here this morning. Here's hoping that weather pushes its way into your part of the country and dislodges that hot weather you have. You must be so tired of it by now.

You Darned Right
Yes I am. Yesterday's high at the house was 89. The temperature inside was 79.8 and I was pooped. I realize that running inside is supposed to be shangri la, but it is not. The air around me is hot and the fans just swirl it around and with my hot air breathing out, it just makes it hotter. Yeah, we have one more day of this and the front come through. I am hoping this is an easy day.
Re: Clawing My Way Back
At least you get 40s for your race, you are still racing this weekend aren't you?
I had 65+ and 90% humidity (hit 73/75% humidity at the end) for my race on Sunday... IT SUCKED!!!!!!

Cruel Twist Of Fate
Nope. Race is out. I might do the Run Through The Woods in November in the Woodlands. You know what. The front came through last evening. The cool air came and it is here. It is now 57 degrees. Hmmm. Well when I ran at 5:15 pm, it was still sultry, hot and humid. Yep, and my run went the same way. I had no pep, no energy. Oh well. Started 7:54 pace, by the mile two, 7:30 pace and followed that to a 53:30 for 7 miles. I was soaked and tired. Who knows what happens today.....I have 28 miles this week.

Tale of Two Runs
This was going to be an easy run. Really, it was. The first five miles were at a 7:54 pace. Get this, I was exhausted. I really torn up after the 39:15 for the five mile mark. Well, something kicked in. I ramped it up to a 7:09 pace for the next two miles. I have not run that fast since June. I was thinking, ok. I feel better at this pace than the slower one. What gives. I finished with a 53:30 for 7 miles. The last two miles were at 14:28. I am not sure if I am tired or not. I feel, still blah, but I guess ok. Get this, today was a vacation day. Yep, meaning chores to do. Well, I had to get my driver's license done today, for tomorrow it expires. I was given number 8. You think, cool in and out. Yeah, the procedure takes five minutes. I got there at 8 am and got seen at 9:45. Hummm.. I have 35 miles this week.

So DMV offices are just as much of a black hole in Texas as they are in NY.

DMV
Yep. I did tell the woman who waited on me that it was demoralizing to folks to hear numbers like...
402, 403, then 1, then 304.....Now, that is just what needs to be served, not next in line, but heck, it does mess folks up.....

Got It In
I ran a quickie 5 miler last night. 39:30 to get the mileage in. Gave me 40 for the week. I woke feeling horrible. I swear, I am not sick ( tingling feeling on skin at times..have had it since high school, by the way..LOL) but feeling run over. I made an appointment with my MD for a physical. I have not had one since March 2010 and figured it was time. I maybe anemic, but then again who knows. Today's run. Well it started out being slow, but that last two miles were at 7:19 pace (and a 7:30 before that for good measure) and finished 7 miles at 53:29, so again, I am ok in that respect. I did feel like crud during the run. I have 7 miles this week.
Monster Mash 10K
The overall masters winner ran a 44...sigh....and the winner of my age group ran a 50.....I was going to run, but we had company come over, so I could not. Sigh,.......
Re: Clawing My Way Back
Why was the race run at 3:30pm in the afternoon? WEIRD! Those are some slow times man, you would have jogged it and won. Hopefully you can get in a race in a few weeks.

ctober 10, 7:55 AMDATE CHANGED TO SUNDAY OCT 30TH 3:00PM
Due
to circumstances beyond our control we have had to move the event to
the following day of Sunday, October 30th at 3:00pm. Sam Houston Race
Park is a great venue and they do a lot for the event. We want to do
what we have to to accommodate their needs. We certainly apologize for
this last minute change and assure everyone involved that if we could
have notified you sooner about this we would have.
Yeah, I know Joel, I know...LOL..oh well.....and by the way, the company was supposed to come over by 4 pm, they showed up at 6:45 pm. At least I got my run in......

Just another reason NOT to run that race every year.

Yeah, and get this, they ( I think whomever makes the Energizer battery) is having a Night Race at the Horse Track 11-11-11. It is a 11K ( 6.8 miles).

Re: Clawing My Way Back
I get why they are doing an 11k but really why do an 11k? Seems kind of dumb to me but too each their own I guess. It isn't on my "to do" races that is for sure.

I said I understood why they (the organizers) were doing it because the demand is probably there but I should have said, why do runners care about running an 11k? Just because of some stupid date that is 11-11-11. Oh yeah, I got to run an 11k on 11-11-11....I will NEVER run another 11k again but it was SOOOO cool to run an 11k on 11-11-11. LOOK AT ME I AM COOL!!!
Sorry my sarcastic rant is over now.

Gee, are you ok? Having the grumpy Jerry day today are we? LOL
Coming Around The Bend
Well, I knew it would be a short one last night. With Halloween coming and our boy really wanting to go out to trick or treat, I had to rush this one. He went at Bumblebee from the Transformers. His mother picked that one out. I was supposed to go as a metalhead ( for those who know me, oh yeah, that is a stretch...LOL, I ran to Megadeth's United Abominations for my run yesterday), but the mullet did not fit my head right. LOL I digress. The run. The first mile was at 7:50. Get this, from mile 2-5, I ran a 29:20. 37:30 for 5 miles. Again, coming from the crap this summer, I am coming back. Today, 52:30 for 7 miles. Slowly, my soleus is responding to the pounding. The last two miles were at a 7:24 pace. I have 12 miles this week. I might run for lunch, but I am not sure.
