Given that you were soaked, the Aquarium seems an oddly appropriate place for you to eat!
Did they throw you pieces of fish?

Yes, yes they did.
Excitement
Well, first I ran my 5 miles this morning. I used two hours of vacation time to do it. New rules and new life. I was also advised by my HR person that I have to take my lunch hour from 12-1 or 1-2 pm. I cannot take it from 4-5 anymore. That means, YMCA from now on. That means 7:30 pace there and that means 5 miles each time. Fun times. Sigh. My first mile this morning was a 9 flat. I ran the next 4 miles at 30:30 for a 39:30. I have 28 miles this week. My groin is hurting a bit, but I am ok. I have a 7 miler this afternoon at 4:45 pm. I am kinda bummed about the lunch hour, but something is better than nothing. I might be able to sneak in 6 miles, if I stay a little longer. You know, I just might do that. Humm.
Another Hummm
I ended up with 35 miles last week. It was ok. Sigh. I got 5 miles in with two miles warm up and cool down. The positive was that the last mile was a 7:14 pace ending with a 39:30 for the total. Today was really good. Why? I wanted this to be a slow paced run, but after two miles and a 15:45 I ramped it up to a 7:30 pace. I then ramped it up to a 7:24 pace by mile 4 and 7:19 pace by mile 5, coming in at 52:40 for the whole 7. That is great. I mean, 36:55 for the last 5 miles was really nice. That was the fastest I have seen in at least two months. It was great running temperature and feeling wise. I had a mile cool down for 8 miles this week. The groin is still tweaky. I think it will take some time for this to go away. I am planning on tomorrow to be a 7:42 or 7:36 opening mile, then start ramping it up after mile two. We will see.

Tweaky?!?!?!?! Really, and you call yourself a professor.
Nice to see your paces dropping though.

Life Gets In The Way
I not only missed one day ( Monday), but Tuesday too. I swear life so gets in the way. Meetings, HR, Training and family time. Goodness. I ran this morning. 5 miles in the 96 percent humidity. Thanks Mother Nature. The first mile was in 8:36 and the final time was 38:30. Not too shabby. I will take that. Again, groin was ok. Not great, not horrible, just there. I will either run at the YMCA from 1:30 to 2:30 (12 noon meeting today), or run at home. Either way, 7 miles must be put in. Oh by the way on a "what a non runner does not understand how a runner thinks" note. My wife, a non runner, was so perplexed this morning. Why? I told her I had to catch up my miles. Why does that include running twice today? Because, I missed two days this week. Why, she asked? Why does it matter? Who cares? I do, honey, I do. Woo Hoo. LOL I have 13 miles this week.
Hot Again
Good gosh almighty dang. It was hot. 81 degrees hot. Humid too. First mile, 7:56. The ending, at 5 miles, 37:50, so too bad. It was hot. Man oh man. Please hurry front. Please make February bone chilling cold. I have 19 miles this week. ( I had a one mile cool down)

81??
If the groundhog lived near you, tomorrow would end up more like a pit BBQ.

Cool
Finally. Again, rough week. I did not get to run on Thursday because of a some things I will fix Monday. I had to work 12 hours on Thursday and could not get away. Will not happen again. Rest assured. "Nuff said on that. Friday was rough. It was hot. It was humid. I gutted out 7 miles at 52:30. I mean it was 82 degrees. Saturday was a " I squeezed in 5 miles and that was it day". I ran a 38 for 5 miles and it was my son's birthday blowout. It was much cooler and that is a good thing. We were busy all day long. I ended up with 33 miles last week. I cannot believe I missed three days running. Sheesh. Today was really good. With a one mile warm up, (10 minutes) I ran a 52:30 for 7 miles. Relaxed, this was nice. Did the warm up help? Oh heck yes. Can I do a warm up tomorrow? I guess I have no choice. I ran a cool down at an 8 minute pace and so far, feel good. I have 9 miles this week. Let us get 42 miles for the week. Please.
Rush Rush Rush
Not the band, although they SOOO rock. I had to rush my run today. 7 miles and it is done. First mile, 7:45 then to a 7:30 pace until the 3.45 mile mark, a 7:24 pace until the finish at a 52:25. Not to shabby. I was strong today. It was more humid, than yesterday, but still manageable. Warm up? Of course not....sigh.....I have 16 miles this week.
Days Off In The Mist of February
Forced day off yesterday. I am thinking of just making Tuesdays permanent days off. I can never get anything done. Today, not too shabby. Oh and my treadmill tripped its own breaker, but only right after the 7 mile mark. Also, the thing is jerking like crazy. When the wife gets home, we are going to have to get it adjusted. First mile, 7:42, then 7:30 pace to the three mile mark, then 7:24 pace the way home to a 52:15. Not bad at all. Very comfortable, aside from the serious jerking of fast and slow on the treadmill. Tomorrow, should be more of the same. I have 23 miles this week. Finally feel like I am starting to make headway. The groin is still sore, but not horribly so.
Did I Miss Again?
Missed yesterday, but ran today. I ran 8 miles in 1:00:00. Not bad. Groin a little on the hurting side, but ok. Will ice tonight. Pizza night for the family too. I ran a 10 minute cool down for 9 miles for the day and 32 miles for the week. Great day to run too.
Working For The Weekend
Yep, I have to work on a Saturday. I have to teach back to back classes too. Woo Hoo. Not. That meant morning run. I hate mornings. I hate morning runs. Well, it hurt, groin that is. It backed off some, but not alot. The first two miles were at 15:55 and went through the 5 mile mark at 38:30 and finished 8 miles at 1:00:15. Not too bad. The last 5 miles were at 37:00, so I am pleased. Now, I am tired. I have to teach, go out to eat and go to a movie with the wife. Date night, you know. I end with 40 miles this week. First time since December and I missed two days this week.
Update
Groin still hurting, but managable. I do not run until 4 pm tomorrow, so it will have plenty of time to rest. In between classes that I have to teach, so thought I would update. My best friend ran a 1:01:17 for 15K this morning. Man oh man.
Nice To See
I think it is sleeting outside. Now of course, I do not run outside, so I did not see it. I was looking outside, but because I was tired on my run, I was concentrating on finishing. I ran a 52:30 for 7 miles and an dang glad to be finished. I am tired, pooped and ready to lay down and veg. I have 7 miles this week.
Pains In The Night
Battling everything. Pains in the groin and just not sleeping well. Could be this topsy turvy winter. Who knows? Run should commence at 4:45 pm.
Dadgum Rush Heck Fire
My COO just had to talk to me for 35 minutes. I was trying to get out the door, but nooooo. Well, I got a rushed 5 miler in. First mile was at 8 minutes and the last four were at 29:45 for a 37:45. At least I got something in. I have 12 miles this week.

Not Sure
ounce wrote:What's the deal with the groin?
Not sure. I am really not sure. DC says it is tweaked, but I cannot find the time to go see him. I do know with warmup, it hurts less.....
What The Heck?
Treadmill has been tripping. Why, I did not know? I thought it was the pulling of electricity off of the plug. Nope. I thought it was bad wiring. Nope. Get this. You are supposed to lube it. Yes, I know, I know, folks should know that. I was told by the Pacemaster guys no lubing. Ha. My tech, says " That is why it is tripping?" What, I asked? Yep. No way. Yep. Well, I have lubed it and am ready to go for tomorrow. I did, however, before the tripping, got in 37:53 for 5 miles. At least I got that. I have 17 miles for the week. Oh by the way, why did it not trip Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday? Because it has been 69 upstairs. Humm.
Re: Clawing My Way Back
Funny about the mill, Michael. My treadmill is 14+ yrs old and not only has it never been lubed, it has never been calibrated or serviced since I first bought it when my now almost 19 yr old daughter was 5. It has also been moved three times. I know that it is accurate because when you set the pace to a 9 min mile, the mile time is 9 min. I dread the day it fails and I'm forced to buy a new one.
As for the groin thing, my guess is your DC is right and you've probaly got something out of alignment. Don't let it get too out of hand.

You are right Michele. The tech guy was right too. No tripping, nothing. It was hot, humid and crappy today, but I survived. I so did not feel like running. Not at all. I went through the first 2 miles at 15:46 and the last two at 22:30 for a 38:16 for 5 miles. Thank goodness it is over. Sheesh. I have 22 miles this week.
