How about 52 to 60 during the 3 hours ill be out there and 15mph NE winds. Not ideal at this point oh and possible rain.

Nooooooooooooooo - not a crazy Boston-like forecast where the only warm day was Monday!! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that you get cool weather. Heck, it was under 50F here in Atlanta this morning.

43 to 63 so right now that is decent being that race starts at 7am. But 16mph winds and possible rain still an issue.

Wind sounds worse than the temp. Good luck.

Yes, I agree. Thanks for confirming. Lol
Re: A Toast with Champaign, Illinois
Looks like strategy forSaturdays marathon is to run based on heart rate. With what maybe heavy winds I have to honor my heart that is know if I go out if my heart rate zone I'll crash and burn. So if I run a disciplines strategic race keeping my heart rate in the low 170's for the first 20 I will find myself running faster with tailwinds slower with headwinds but "running" a best effort race.
The hard part will be to stay true to this plan. the least 10k I can float to upper 170 even touch down 180. Don't know what time this will give me but I won't be a goal time race until that last 10 k.
this still allow me to run my best effort race hopefully without bonking. Isn't that the goal anyways?

Yes, the forecast is looking better today. 40 degrees at the start, partly cloudy, still windy though at 12-15mph.
Re: A Toast with Champaign, Illinois
Kenny, the forecast is really not bad, especially if it's cloudy. It's certainly cool enough. For the winds, do your best to draft off someone as often as possible if it is a little windy. Good luck.

Strategy should be to end up with a Garcia's pizza and a visit to Kam's (not sure that one is even still there).
Good luck Kenny, and I hope the weather does well by you in the end!

Thanks everyone. Just landed waiting on Jim to chauffeur me. Lol
Yes I'll be drafting behind a pack of wolves.

Have a great time, Kenny! A couple of my friends I run with locally are running the half. I think they're pretty excited. Do your best and have fun.

Re: A Toast with Champaign, Illinois
Not my day. Repeat of Atlantic CITY Marathon. mile 20 it ended winds crushed me physically and emotionally. Spiritually I accepted the journey and let go of outcome. On pace at 20 with sub 3:20 and some time to spare but then walk run volunteer even did suicides before the finish line on three football football field. I needed to lighten up the day a bit and have some fun with it.

Tough break with the wind. Suicides? You are too crazy!

Re: A Toast with Champaign, Illinois
You've got it in you Kenny, but maybe we need to help you with a new strategy as I'm thinking this might be in your head (been there, done that). Re-group for Buffalo and let's see.
Re: A Toast with Champaign, Illinois
Sorry it didn't turn out for you, but I bet those aid station volunteers were blown away when a speedy guy like you stopped and started passing out Gatorade. Way to make the best of a disappointing situation, Kenny style.
You'll get this one of these days.

Re: A Toast with Champaign, Illinois
Sorry about the winds Kenny. I went out for a run this morning and the winds were pounding me, seemingly in every direction I turned. I thought about you out there and figured it wouldn't go well. Tough day. No matter what, you have Phiily remember.

Re: A Toast with Champaign, Illinois
Thanks everyone.
Michelle if Buffalo does not get me sub 3:20 preferably 3:18 I'll look to the boards for change in training for Philly.
John thanks of thinking if me. Winds don't serve me well. Maybe I need to do wind sprints lol.
Mark always in style in all ways. Lol
