Re: Your Week in Training June 13 - 19
Kevin I hope you heal and are able to get back to it full tilt soon! I know what it is like and it really stinks when issues come up. Good vibes your way.
2011 Chicago Training Week 2
Even though it is week 2 of my Chicago training, I’m really in a re-building base phase. I had a good case of Piriformis Syndrome (which I will explain more when I get my blog up) which I decided to let heal 100%. When I say heal it was a active healing process just no running. To be honest it felt nice to take the break and do things the right way! Slowly building the mileage back up, on to this week.
6/13 Monday: 6.44 miles easy @ 7:02 pace
6/14 Tuesday: 8.06 miles easy @ 7:17 pace
6/15 Wednesday: 6.25 miles easy @ 7:39 pace
6/16 Thursday: 6.05 miles recovery @ 9:38 pace w/Lisa
6/17 Friday: Am 10.05 miles easy @ 7:10 pace Pm 4.02 miles @ 10:12 pace w/Lisa
6/18 Saturday: 8.20 miles easy @ 7:18 pace
6/19 Sunday: 13.50 miles recovery @ 9:07 pace w/Lisa, Vivian and Brian. 2.5 miles were on mine own had a really bad code B. First time that has happen to me, so I had to play catch-up.
Week: 62.58 miles

Why in the heck wouldn't we continue this? It's great, and we appreciate you getting it going every week Kevin!
Last week before Chicago training starts and I got in a solid week.
Mon-6 easy @ 8:53 (and for you Mark, I did this in my Free Runs)
Tues-7 w/5 mile progression (8:03, 7:50, 7:43, 7:40, 7:38) and 2 mile cool down
Wed-off
Thu-off
Fri-10 @ 8:13
Sat-7 @ 8:48 (another Free Run day, I'm going to try to do all of my recovery miles in them)
Sun-15 @ 8:28 (it felt a whole lot hotter than the thermometer says and was horribly humid; I gotta get out the door earlier!)

Re: Your Week in Training June 13 - 19
Absolutely continue it, and this seems like a good place for it as any.
As for my week... I spent most of it absorbing the lesson of just how different a mountainous, technical trail race is from anything I've ever done before. I was sore in all sorts of new and exciting places!
Mon: Feet - ow!
Tue: Feet - ow, but less so.
Wed: Feet better - hey... I can feel my quads now! Ow!
Thu: Everything feeling a little better. Maybe I can run tomorrow?
Fri: 7 miles easy. Felt pretty good, my legs enjoyed it... but my feet and ankles rebelled a couple of hours later. Ow!
Sat: C-r-e-a-k! (Getting better, though.)
Sun: Extra rest, babying the feet and ankles. I bet things will be a lot better next week.

Yes, I think we should definitely continue this. I believe we may want it in the "Training Plans and Questions" forum, as that will be geared more specifically towards running, while "General Conversation" will have more of a coffee feel.
Matt and I are working on a description for each sub-forum today. I'll leave this here for now, but may move depending on what everyone thinks.

Re: Your Week in Training June 13 - 19
After running 51.1 miles on 6/11 I decided to take most of the week off to recover.
Sat - about 8 miles at recovery pace, did not wear a watch so not sure of time or distance, however, the legs actually felt pretty good
Sun - planned to run again, but we had a bonfire in our backyard on Saturday night and had a few too many adult beverages
Plan on getting back into a routine this week.

Roger that. Coffee House [aka 'General Conversation'] isn't the place for it week after week. It would sit better in 'Training Plans ...'. Feel free to move it as you see fit.Dave-O wrote:I believe we may want it in the "Training Plans and Questions" forum, as that will be geared more specifically towards running, while "General Conversation" will have more of a coffee feel.

Agreed that this could easily go in Training Plans. But I'd tinker with the name of that forum, if that's the case. Maybe move the "plans" part to the sub-heading?

See, it's this nonsense that's getting your post count so inflated.
Re: Your Week in Training June 13 - 19
Ok week with a tweaky right glute/hammie again. Lots of foam rolling, etc., and it is ok, but not 100%. Weather was cooler in the mornings in Atlanta this past week which helped quite a bit.
Monday - 8 mile tempo run
Tuesday - Easy 5 mile recovery run
Wednesday - 8 x 400 on mill at 1:35-1:40 pace. Leg felt surprising good. 6 total
Thursday - 7 very easy miles with a friend
Friday - 12 miles alternating 9 min miles with 8:20/8:30 miles. Worked out pretty good. Leg sore at the end, probably dehydration too.
Saturday - 6.5 miles where 6.2 was over the Peachtree course with trainees. WE averaged 9 min miles and I outsprinted the three of them at the end (they started it!) Drove to Cincinnati (6 hrs)
Sunday - Day off. Drove from Cincy to Chautauqua (6 more hrs)
Total for the week: 44.5 miles

That's right Mike. No offense Lisa. I don't care about post count. I do care about making these forums easy to navigate. And it's frustrating to see a "New" post, then to click in only to see a or a +1 for that matter. Such agreement [which is a good thing] shouldn't be regarded as a new post at all. In fact, many boards allow members to 'thank' the author of any given post [rather like 'like' on Facebook] tallying that agreement or thanks, as it were, by member at the bottom of the post itself. This way these 'agreement posts' don't count as posts at all. Rather they count as 'Thanks'. And each members profile can be displayed with how many 'Thanks' they've issued in how many posts and how many times they've been 'Thanked' in how many posts. THAT is a far more meaningful tally than raw post count, no? ...Perhaps the forumotion boards have something similar as an option?Mike MacLellan wrote:Mrs. Schuey wrote:Mike MacLellan wrote:Agreed that this could easily go in Training Plans. Kevin, no offense taken. You assume I care about post count which is inaccurate. I was simply agreeing with what Mike was saying. With that said, I like your idea of the "thank you" option.
Do we take post count out? Is it the post count that is bothersome or is it that the response is flagged as a new post and frustration ensues when one opens the thread to see a thumbs up?

Re: Your Week in Training June 13 - 19
Post count can stay. The difficulty arises when simply agreeing or high-fiving, as it were, results in a new post notification. It shouldn't and I think it may be easy to fix.
