Thread moved to the running forum. Kevin, its your thread to run with each week. If there are any other ways you'd like to add to or change the weekly thread, go for it!
I'll talk with Matt about slightly changing the forum name.

Back to our regularly scheduled program...
CHicago training
Mon - 6.8 miles easy/recovery pace (9:40 avg) plus hill sprints
Tue - 9.5 miles light progression (8:36, 8:12, 8:32, 8:22, 8:21, 8:24, 8:19, 8:00, 8:00, 9:00) (it was tough to hit consistent paces as I was in Long Island running on an unfamiliar route and dodging vehicles)
Wed - 10 miles easy pace (9:00 avg)
Thu - 7 miles easy (8:46 avg) plus hill sprints
Fri - aerobic test - 3 miles warm up (8:55 avg), then four miles hard effort (7:18, 7:24, 7:09, 7:12) (I did these four miles at a track), then 2 miles cool down (8:53 avg).
Sat - 13 mile long run, pretty ugly running it at 1:00 PM when it was in the upper 80s.
Week: 55 miles

Re: Your Week in Training June 13 - 19
I posted my training from last week in RWOL and since I"m a shameless self-promoter I thought I'd let the gang here see just how mentally disturbed I truly am.
Here was my week last week. I'll preface this by
saying this was not done on a whim and was done for no particular reason
other than I wanted to try it and see if my body could handle the
miles.
Sun 14 miles, 1 on the track @ 6:17 and 13 more late @ 7:57
Mon Run to work and run home week. 13.5 miles each way. 13.5 in the am @ 7:26 & 13.5 in pm @ 7:42
Tue 13.5 am @ 7:48, 13.5 pm @ 7:53
Wed 13.5 am @ 7:41, 13.5 pm @ 7:29
Thurs 13.5 am @ 7:35, 13.5 pm @ 7:43
Fri 13.5 am @ 7:24, 13.5 pm @ 7:56
Sat 12 @ 7:34
Total Miles = 161
Not
training for anything in particular, but had been contemplating trying
the run to work and run home thing for awhile. Decided this was a good
time to give it a go since I have no major races on the horizon. Legs
are sore and tired, but not as bad as I imagined they would be. One of
the most difficult aspects of this was eating and drinking enough
between runs. I'm only down 5lbs through the week, so I think I did a
decent job of keeping up w/ the calories.

Holy cow! Nice job...I like the reasoning behind why you ran that many miles.

HA, I'll never be invited to any Mensa meetings that's for sure.

I used to run to work back in the mid 1980s - but it was only 7.5 miles. You are seriously disturbed, Don - so you had better stick around.

Ha!, thanks I'll definitely stick around. I plan on doing that again in the first week of August and throwing in a couple of days where I run a few miles at lunch. That will have a purpose as I train for the Ragnar Relay Great River race. I'm on an ultra team that won the division last year (8th overall) and we plan on improving our time and defending the title this year.
Oh, and I guess I should admit that I actually had fun running all those miles last week. Proof positive that I am truly disturbed.
