Best weather forecast so far!!! Hi is now 39 with only a 10% chance of precipitation...so none...and winds are down to 8 mph!!!
This is definitely a recipe for a PR.

Been a crazy day as my husband's Aunt (in Chicago) passed last night and I was trying to figure a way to get there, but with all the stuff happening on Saturday morning, I'll just have to put her name on my shoe along with Boston Strong.
Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
Well, that sucks. Especially if she was the favorite Aunt.

Looks like things are keeping steady for Sunday. The wind seems to be shifting to the northeast, but is still calming down.

That's not what I said. You are saying that you are not in perfect fitness and I know that you want to run sub 3s. Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
OK, no joke on this one. My ankle is killing me! I think I sprained it. No idea how though. Interestingly I can run on it just fine as long as I have nice even ground. It only hurts (a lot though) when I turn it to the inside. Marathon is Nov. 10. Do I rest it until then? Do I not care since it is fine when running (as long as I run straight, seriously as long as there is no side to side it is fine. One twist though and it hurts like hell) ACK!!!!!
Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
It sounds like it may be a particularly noteworthy case of taperitis, especially since you don't remember any traumatic injury.carleenp wrote:OK, no joke on this one. My ankle is killing me! Keep running, but if it starts hurting during a run and getting worse, it may bear more attention. But ice it after running, just to be safe.

Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
Pain is your body's way of telling you that something is wrong. I would not ignore it, but try to rule out causes. Can you re-create how it begins to hurt? Does it hurt when you are walking in your running shoes (in case your shoes masks the affliction). Swelling? A new pair of street shoes, recently? If no to all, do some ankle strengthening exercises like:Mark B wrote:It sounds like it may be a particularly noteworthy case of taperitis, especially since you don't remember any traumatic injury.carleenp wrote:OK, no joke on this one. Keep running, but if it starts hurting during a run and getting worse, it may bear more attention. But ice it after running, just to be safe.
1. Rotate your ankle clockwise in a circle 20 times. Then counter-clockwise. Then do the other ankle. Do it twice.
2. Stand between a doorway and lift your right foot and balance on your left for 30 seconds. Repeat on the left foot. Do this three times.
3. Dangle your foot and imagine you had a pencil between your big toe and 2nd toe and write the alphabet with your big toe. Do this twice.
If any of this hurts, stop, and put it on ice and seek some help. If none of this hurts, good for you, then put it on ice and repeat it until Wednesday.
You'll probably be fine for the marathon (or discard the doctor/chiropractor's advice and hope for the best), but it's only a matter of time before it affects your running, because your body will compensate to avoid the pain while running or walking.

Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
It hurts anytime I rotate it. But walking or running is fine with no pain at all. No clue at all what caused it! I took today off and it is slowly improving. Amazingly, I am not freaking out about it. I guess I'm not quite fully taper mad yet!ounce wrote:Pain is your body's way of telling you that something is wrong.
