I still have 6 days of madness. That might be good for another page.mountandog wrote:yippee!! 9 pages of madness coming to an end.
Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
Strangely, I didn't really get the madness this year until the night before the race and I started to get that butterflies in the stomach feeling. I was actually very calm and relaxed all the way up to that point.

Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
I usually get all sorts of taper madness and I am amazingly fine for this one despite having an ankle problem earlier in the week and constantly running into sick people. I plan to all out race it, but I also plan to do so without using my watch and I am rather resigned to just seeing what happens, so maybe that is why I am more relaxed. But I still 5 days for all that to change!mul21 wrote:Strangely, I didn't really get the madness this year until the night before the race and I started to get that butterflies in the stomach feeling. Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
The no watch thing is very brave and I almost did the same in Indy. I'm glad that I didn't for the first few miles, but I actually never looked at it from about mile 7 on to the finish. I went with how I felt and it worked.
Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
If it wasn't for my friend Pete, I would have almost been in the position to go watchless. Thank god I didn't have to, though...Michele \"1L" Keane wrote:The no watch thing is very brave and I almost did the same in Indy. Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
In 2012, I was weirdly anxious on the Wednesday before Houston. I had trained really hard and lost 30 pounds, so I was itching to run the race.carleenp wrote:I usually get all sorts of taper madness and I am amazingly fine for this one despite having an ankle problem earlier in the week and constantly running into sick people. That evening, I went down to the GRB convention center where we were having a Oly Trials meeting. I looked around at all the preparation going on the street in front of the GRB and I got this calmness over me. It settled me down and on Sunday, I was ready to rock.
I'll have to do that again in 74 days (I looked at the website's countdown clock:geek: ).

Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
I'm planning to use it for the first two miles to avoid going out too fast. But after that I am putting it on the time of day screen. It worked well for me at my last half,so I figure I'll see what happens at the full!Michele \"1L" Keane wrote:The no watch thing is very brave and I almost did the same in Indy. Re: TAPER MADNESS!!!!
Good plan to use the watch for the first couple miles. I relied on the 4:15 pacer to start me out easy (goal of 4:05-4:10). Her first mile was 8:57...way to fast!carleenp wrote:I'm planning to use it for the first two miles to avoid going out too fast. But after that I am putting it on the time of day screen. Good luck. I'm anxious to see how it goes.
