I have not checked recently but last year it was 36 to 42 if stressed up to 50 depending on the morning. I am up for checking it again. It was 60 at start of running 5 years ago.
Its a good way to see if you are overtrained or getting sick.
Re: The tail end of a blog!
Headed to track tomorrow for 6x800's @ 5k looking to nail 3:18-3:20 splits. Was off today legs feel pretty good coming off yesterday's hard run but I could use a dusting off!

Training TodayWent to the beach today to run 14 miles w/ last 4 @ MP. The weather
overall was beautiful: Sunny, 70 and not to humid w/little wind.
I saw this post on Facebook. I am so jealous that you live close enough to run on the beach.

I am jealous of those who can run on the mountains. Funny how that works!
The beach is nice I run on the boardwalk then usually take a dive in the ocean. That is heaven!

"The traveler was active; he went strenuously in search of people, of adventure, of experience. The tourist is passive; he expects interesting things to happen to him. He goes "sight-seeing." - Danie Boorstin
Training Today
6:00am - Headed to MHS track for 8 miles w/ 6 x 800's. Nailed the splits
@ avg .3:18 ea. but was dripping with the humidity(85% and heat (70). It was
tough run in warm weather (as expected) but legs felt really good. I
held good form but started to feel it fade a bit last split. Looking at
past 800's in Sept. of 3:23 splits I am happy with today's work out
knocking down 5 sec per split.
Upcoming
Tomorrow 11 @ LSD

Great to be able to see improvement over time, I guess that's another reason to keep a good training log. Sorry about the humidity.

5:45 headed out for 11 @ LSD. 73 degrees 87% humidity. This should be fun!

Training Today
Ain't no joke out there at 5:45am - 73 degrees, 87% humidity not ideal
for an 11 mile LSD run. Coming off another hard day I was happy to be
able to hit 8:29 pace keeping my HR avg at 158 (zone) considering the
weather. Can't say it was an easy run as it took a few miles to get
into some groove and get my breathing going well. Overall a successful
day of training!

Tomorrow is 5 miles.

Your LSD pace is a lot faster than what it was a relatively short time ago, and is roughly the same as what for me is a GA pace. I don't think I want to go up against you anytime soon.

Ain't gonna be no rematch!
Maybe I can pace you at one of your races! What time would you be shooting for realistically?

I don't even want to think about it yet (even though I think about it all the time). My BQ time is 3:30, but in order to guarantee entry, I'd love to be able to hit 3:25 which would be an almost 5 minute PR. Is that realistic given everything that's gone on...I have no idea yet.

Thought of the day!
"Think, speak and act like the person you want to be. This way the wanting becomes reality."
Training Today
Scheduled for double run today (5am 5pm) decided to run 6 this morning
as the weather was beautiful. Cool 63 degrees lower humidity had to
take advantage. Avg. HR 135 is the lowest in the past 5 years for 6
mile recovery run. This is a good sign I am continuing to improve on my physical condition and recovered well from back to back hard days.
Upcoming
4 tonight and some type of LT run tomorrow maybe 2x2 @ 15k or 3 FCR not sure where the mind will take me.

I don't have the beach or the mountains here. It's mostly asphalt and cement.

I have learned to love asphalt.
Re: The tail end of a blog!
Wrapped up my double run today.
4:30pm - 83 degrees, sunny - did 4 miles total of 10 for the day. PM run usually is uncomfortable although the last one I did went better then the AM run. Today it really took me 3 miles to get acclimated. Ended up with a decent pace and HR 137 which is very good considering the temps.
Headed out to dinner with friends and Friday is Weight check in. I have to make it point to set aside the crap and stick to hopefully some whole wheat pasta no dessert serves no purpose. Plan on weighing in at 172.5 but we will see.

+1, on both accounts! Looking good lately Kenny.
I have to finish up my double with 6 miles later tonight. Unfortunately, it's 90+ degrees right now and I'll be waiting until later tonight to get it in.

Thought of the day!
"You know you're a runner when...you have 199 miles for the month and you go out to run 1 last mile at 11:00pm to say you ran 200" - (and not it was not me. I ain't that crazy. I ran 208)
Training Today
Cool weather brings great runs! Today was LT intervals 2 x 2 miles @
7:08 pace (10m) with 3 min recovery jog & 1 mile wu/cd. It is good
feeling when a hard today feels easy makes me wonder if 3 x 2 was on the
table. Anyways I never got close to my LT Zone avg 166 HR for the
first set and 171 for the second. This is tremendous improvement from
year to year and even of recent. I ended up hitting 7:08 on both
intervals. This is coming off 2 hard days and a double recovery run
yesterday. Certainly feel ready for 4-7m FCR @ LT coming up soon.
Loving it!
Upcoming
5 easy tomorrow, 15 on Sat, Sunday headed to Cape May won't be back until Wednesday! Plan on running to the lighthouse and back. Kind of become tradition for me.

re: your thought of the day - that wasn't me...I think I finished at 196.5 for the month. I would do something like that, though. This just wasn't the month ending with an illness.
Your LT intervals sound like they went great! Great running! Enjoy your travels.

Re: The tail end of a blog!
Thunder lightening pouring rain oh my no trails today headed indoors on TM for 15 miles. or I can run in circles around my basement. TM wins I think. Lol
Re: The tail end of a blog!
Thunder storm here too, with hail and 40 mph winds. Enjoy the treadmill if that is possible.

I have learned to enjoy the TM. I bring it flower and it brings me good runs! WOW> Hail and 40 winds. Someone say TM!
Training Today
Lightening and thunder with rain forced me indoors. I am all for extreme weather running (EWR) but I can do without the Bolts. So went to gym and did rolling hills on TM from -2% to +7% incline. I gradually increased/decreased and during miles 4,9,14, peaked at 4%, 5%, 7% respectively. Overall it was on the easy side with avg. HR 153 and pace 8:27. The only slight discomfort I had was some tightening along my right ITB. No pain but stiff. Foam Rolled and stretched after and seems good now. TM can tend to do that to me for long extended time.
Upcoming
Tomorrow just an easy 5 miles.
Re: The tail end of a blog!
Very solid run, Kenny, and your HR didn't vary much even with those inclines. I also avoid the lightning and thunder. I've been out in it and it's a little scary although logically, I never read about any runners/bikers getting hit. Maybe it's because they are all smart enough to not go out in it.
