JohnP wrote:Very solid run, Kenny, and your HR didn't vary much even with those inclines. I also avoid the lightning and thunder. I've been out in it and it's a little scary although logically, I never read about any runners/bikers getting hit. Maybe it's because they are all smart enough to not go out in it.
Im not willing to be the first.

That's a nice run on the TM. Take care of that quad.

Hey Kenny, check the mileage on your shoes. I had a little bit of a nagging quad and it was due to my shoes hitting 400 miles and just losing their cushioning. Took them out of the rotation and I haven't had any more issues.
Nice job on the quarters, even if they did feel long!

Jim, my shoes don't have that much mileage but one of my pair of custom orthodics is heavily due for refurbished yest I keep rotating with the other pair that was just refurbished. Today I ran with the newly refurbished pair and right now quad feels 90% better.
Obviously I am not wearing the older pair until I get them refub soon!

Thought of the day!
"You know you're a runner if...you look in the mirror and see a Kenyan."
Training Today
6:00am - 72 degrees, 88% humidity thankfully just a recovery run.
Running on perceived effort as usual on recovery runs ended up with a
pretty slow pace of 9:52. Although legs felt very good I guess body
wanted to just go slow. I only did 4 today as yesterday's 8 should have
been only 6 so I want to have fresh legs going into Sat. 5 mile race.
Upcoming
Tomorrow will be an easy 3 with some strides.

I think it is better. I don't feel anything. I am wondering if it was from orthodics or possibly foam rolling to hard.

Thought of the day!
"Don't waster your soul on your mind."
Training Today
Typical recovery run + 6x100m strides day before race. Weather 73/90%
humidity. Legs felt really good so I should be ready for this 5 mile
race. Only issue will be the warm weather and high humidity (75/85%).
Upcoming
5 mile race tomorrow. Typically suck wind at this course because it is usually hot and humid causing me to be a good minute or so off the Sheehan race.
sheehan vs. belmar
2007 36:31 no race
2008 no race 37:02
2009 no race 36:36 (cool 65-69 degrees)
2010 35:34 36:46 (80 degrees 85% humidity)
2011 35:13 TBD (??72-75 w/85% humidity)
So my A goal is sub 35 B sub 35:13 C Goal Sub 36. I will go out at 7:00 pace I will know by end of mile 2 whether a PR will happen.

Have a good race Kenny - humidity does suck. Try not to think about it and just run your race!

Re: The tail end of a blog!
Thanks everyone /.... update weather 72 90% humidity at start moving to 73 82% humidity by the end. Temp is ok for me humidity might be the challenge. I am actually looking for some rain hopefully!
Re: The tail end of a blog!
Headed to the race. Weather will be 72 but 94% humidity and all Sun. Legs feel good right now so I am visualizing 34:52 plan just run even 7:00min splits and see how I feel and push last 1-2 miles. Ill know after mile 1. Be back soon.

"Don't waster your soul on your mind."
Training Today
7:00am - Headed to trails today ran 2 alone then met with one guy for 10
more. It was pretty nice outside 70's but low humidity. Quads
slightly sore and tight coming off yesterday's 5 mile race. Overall it
was a good quality long run of only 12 finishing up my step-back week.
HR was closer to the high end of my zone pace par for the course! Monday
is a rest day as I start Tuesday to ramp up mileage for marathon
training!

Darn, Kenny! Good effort though in tough conditions. Love the comeback mile at the end.
